Sculptural Earth Bowl Workshop
A workshop facilitated for Ground Workshops. Ground works with artists and creatives who use ideas and materials that come from the ~ground~, bringing seasonal, cyclical workshops to Stoke-on-Trent.
During this workshop, participants learned how to process local materials such as soil, clay and natural fibres to create a sculptural bowl using simple pinching and carving techniques. We covered how to forage responsibly, how to work in tune with the seasons, making earth pigments and different finishing options which could be completed at home, once the bowls were completely dry. The bowls were intended to be a memento of the workshop, a reminder of our connection to the land, or used to store dry foods like garlic.
