The Art of Slowness, London Craft Week 2025
A group exhibition, The Art of Slowness, curated by Wondering People in collaboration with Plain English Design for London Craft Week 2025.
This collection is an ongoing exploration of vernacular earthen (clom) architecture in northwest Wales, reinterpreted through a bioregional studio practice. It featured sculptural bowls, vessels, and wall pieces made with clay-rich earth, straw, and stone dust — all locally abundant materials gathered responsibly from landslips or collected as "waste" from nearby agricultural and construction industries.
Each piece is an abstract interpretation of encounters in nature on the peninsula — from cloud formations to undulating hills and water-worn stones.
The works invite reflection on how we perceive and value earth-based materials, encouraging a shift from viewing them as inert “waste” or extractive “resources” to recognising them as active collaborators within dynamic ecological systems.
